The 2020 Olympic games which are currently being hosted in Tokyo had an interesting incident that will cheer up The Witcher fans. Russian athlete Vitalina Batsarashkina seems to be a big Witcher fan and she is bringing home a gold medal for fans of The Witcher.
Vitalina Batsarashkina won gold in women’s 10-meter air pistol at the Tokyo Olympics and the best part is that she did it while wearing The Witcher’s medallion. “I still can’t believe I won gold,” Batsarashkina said through an interpreter.
With this win Batsarashkina has became the first Russian athlete to win gold and also have a Tchaikovsky song play instead of her country’s national anthem due to doping sanctions against Russia. Batsarashkina officially competed for ROC, which is the acronym for the Russian Olympic Committee and she did not have “Russia” mentioned anywhere on her uniform.
Kotaku reports that Vitalina, won a silver medal in 2016’s Rio Olympics and during that time she wore the pendant on her pants. So it’s clear that she’s a massive Witcher Fan and has been doing it even before the show aired.
The Witcher had a huge fan community since many years, but with Henry Cavill playing the role of Geralt of Rivia for the TV adaptation on Netflix, The Witcher became a household name all across the world.
In the world of The Witcher, silver is prized, but we’re betting that Batasarashkina is pretty happy with gold.
