The launch of Disney+ has resulted in some special treats for Marvel fans who’re still not over “Avengers: Endgame.”
A number of deleted scenes are included in the movie featured on the brand new streaming service, and certainly one of which is a tear-jerker that reveals Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in a scene together with his daughter Morgan as a grownup (who’s played by Katherine Langford).
At 181 minutes long, you wouldn’t think that Avengers: Endgame, Marvel’s epic conclusion to Phase Three of the MCU, had any deleted scenes. But almost every movie does and the deleted scene from Endgame solely makes the film’s most tragic loss of life even tougher to swallow.
Langford’s casting had been public knowledge to Marvel loyals, however all those anticipating her part in the movie had been left confused when she was not seen anywhere in the film. Lots of people thought she may’ve been playing the role of Kate Bishop but Joe and Anthony Russo later revealed that the scene had been removed from the movie.
Here’s what they had to share about it:
“There was an idea that we had that Tony was going to go into the metaphysical way station that Thanos goes in when he snapped his fingers. And that there was going to be a future version of his daughter in that way station,” said Joe Russo. “The intention was that his future daughter–because these films are dealing with magic–forgave him and sort of gave him peace to go. And the idea felt resonant. But it was just too many ideas in an overly complicated movie.”
Whether it’ll make a big difference to the movie will doubtless rely on personal choice, however, regardless, it’ll be good to see some new Avengers: Endgame footage. Especially if it offers us extra scenes involving Robert Downey Jr. And what if there are more scenes in the movie that we are not aware of. There might even be some further deleted scenes from the movie hidden on Disney+ that folk have but to find.
