You can presently catch Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, where she’s at present staring daggers at Daenerys Targaryen and preparing to protect humanity from an attack of undead ice monsters. Sadly, that show will conclude soon enough.
But you’ll only have to wait for few weeks after that to see Turner on the big screen in Dark Phoenix, playing a telepath possessed by a celestial force who loses control and goes ham all over her friends, foes, tanks, helicopters, etc.
Thus far as we can tell, Dark Phoenix will be the final film in Fox’s X-Men franchise before Disney takes control of the characters, quite probably recasting them.
The film tells a classic story from the X-Men comics, about good-natured telepath Jean Grey getting access to marvelous power and just wrecking s**t all over the place. By the looks of the trailer, the film is sticking much closer to the comics than previous big screen adaptations of this story, like X-Men: The Last Stand. Will that result in a better film?
Well, optimistically; it’d be fine for this cast to go out on a high note, assuming this is their last hurrah. Unluckily, test screenings haven’t been positive, but then again, it’s wonderful what a little editing and a reshoot or two can do.

Good or bad, X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on June 7.
