The 76th Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg held at Beverly Hills honoured the best and the most gifted of Hollywood and the TV industry and the Bodyguard and Game of Thrones star, Richard Madden won his first Golden Globe Award (Best Actor in a TV Drama) on Sunday night for his role as David Budd in Netflix’s new drama Bodyguard.
Richard Madden grabbed eyeballs last year ago as Sergeant David Budd in Bodyguard. The actor was completely stunned after getting the award.
Madden won the honor for Best Actor in a TV drama show for his role as war veteran and protection officer, sergeant David Budd.
“I didn’t see this coming at all, I wouldn’t be here at all if it wasn’t for the amazing cast and crew who worked really hard and thank you to Keeley Hawes, who is the best actress I could ever work with, who is amazing and generous.”
Madden additionally took the opportunity to thank his co-star Keely Hawes as well as the creator Jed Mercurio and creation organizations BBC and Netflix.
“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the amazing crew and cast that made Bodyguard. They worked really hard over the past 5 years to make this show,” Madden continued.
Madden was up against some firm challenge alongside by Ozark’s Jason Bateman, Homecoming’s Stephan James, Pose’s Billy Porter, and The Americans’ Matt Rhys. Madden gave a shoutout to his parents whom he had flown in all the way from Scotland to be there with him.
“Most importantly, thank you to my friends and my family. My mom and Dad who flew all the way from Scotland – I wouldn’t be here without you. “
