New Game of Thrones theory suggests Jon Snow helped Arya in killing the Night King

Right, so we’ve all seen the latest Game of Thrones episode, haven’t we? Mainly, Arya Stark smashed the Night King by sticking him with a Valyrian steel dagger, the army of the living overcame the dead, and most of our favourite characters managed to survive in the end.

A new Game of Thrones theory is posing the question - Did Jon Snow help Arya kill the Night King?

However, one person who wasn’t a great deal of help was Jon Snow. You’d think he’d be right in the thick of it, and for a while he was – on the back of a dragon or not – but when the end came, he wasn’t really that useful.

Or was he?

A Reddit user has noticed that maybe the bit at the end where Jon is facing down the injured ice dragon isn’t all that it immediately seems at first glance. Does he actually clear the way for Arya to make it to the godswood before sneaking past a load of White Walkers and killing the Night King?

See what you make of this.

When Jon turns around to do his usual act, which is to say, facing death down in spite of knowing that the odds are being stacked widely against him, he isn’t just screaming at the dragon in the hope that it will get frightened and run away.

Up repeat watching, he appears to be saying “Go! Go! Go!“.

Is that an encouragement to Arya, who he is allowing to slip past?

Redditor ‘Applesoapp’ said: “Jon screamed at the undead dragon to distract it so Arya can run past and kill the Night King. The undead dragon was protecting the entrance to the godswood. Watch it again, you can actually hear him scream ‘GOOOOO – GO – GO.’

10 seconds later the scene you can see the hair of a White Walker flying up when Arya sprints past the group of White Walkers. Jon once again was ready to sacrifice himself to kill the Night King.”

It does seem as if at one point Jon sees something out of the corner of his eye, then shouts something unintelligible that could be “Go!“. Does this mean that Jon was eager to give up his life to let Arya to go through and kill the Night King? We may yet discover.
