Jason Momoa’s unshaven, muscular, box-office busting take on Aquaman has now found yet another place to usurp his orange-shirted, green-pantsed ’70s cartoon counterpart, with The Lego Movie 2 announcing today that Momoa will be reprising his role as well-regarded fish man Arthur Curry in the forthcoming animated feature.
To add offense to decades worth of injury, the video declaring Momoa’s landing even sees his long-haired version of the character using the older-style Aquaman as a surfboard (though he seems to be enjoying it).
Momoa is the second member of Warner Bros.’ progressively fractured DC Cinematic Universe to lend their voice talents to the film; Margot Robbie will be reprising her role as Harley Quinn (taking over from Jenny Slate, who played her in The Lego Batman Movie).
The Superfriends-style Aquaman appeared in both the first Lego Movie, as well as Lego Batman, but never had any lines, most probably on account of the fact that no one had thought to try making him sexy yet.
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part debuts in theaters on February 8, 2019.
