Aquaman star, Jason Momoa has joined the ever-growing cast of the Dune reboot from Legendary Entertainment. The Aquaman actor—who is no stranger to sword stunts—will play Duncan Idaho, a swordmaster loyal to House Atreides, one of the Great Houses of the Padishah Empire, according to Variety.

The world of Dune was created by Frank Herbert and began in 1965 with Herbert’s novel, Dune, which received a number of prominent literary awards and spawned video games, television shows and a movie. Directed and written by David Lynch, Dune was released in 1984 and opened to negative reviews, many of which cited the film’s cluttered plot, gore and poor special effects.

The story is set in the distant future, in an interstellar empire packed with advanced technology and people who possess special mental and physical abilities and live in a feudal society.

The story of this civilization and its many Great Houses are told over more than twenty novels—many of which were not written by Herbert. Other than Lynch’s movie, there have been several attempts at adapting the expansive story but those attempts generally failed.

The new Dune film will be directed, written and produced by Denis Villeneuve alongside writers Eric Roth and John Spaihts, producers Mary Parent and Cale Boyter with Kevin J. Anderson, who wrote many of the Dune novels, acting as creative consultant.

It will follow Paul Atreides whose family, owner of the valuable desert planet, Arrakis, is betrayed by a opponent noble family, forcing Paul to lead a rebellion to retake what was stolen.

The star-studded cast will include Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Jessica Atreides, Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban, Stellan Skarsgard as Vladimir Harkonnen, Charlotte Rampling as Reverend Mother Mohiam, Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto, Javier Bardem as Stilgar and the recently confirmed Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck. There is presently no set release date.
