Game of Thrones is a big show, and the stars of the show make big bucks now, but that wasn’t always the case for everybody involved. Former “Game of Thrones” actor Richard Madden, who played the role of Robb Stark, recently said that he didn’t quite get overpaid for his stint on Game of Thrones, and isn’t as rich as we would like to believe.
Madden has moved on to other roles, after his character’s death on Thrones but first big break, though, came in with less cash than he expected, he recently revealed to The Sunday Times, because he didn’t have experience in the industry when he was hired on Game of Thrones.
“People think I am (loaded) because of ‘Game Of Thrones’, but you know, when I signed up for that I was 22, with f**k all on my CV, so I was paid f**k all.”
He also commented on the gender pay disparity in the entertainment industry and said that he endorses equality himself. He said lawyers and producers were to blame for misusing their bargaining power.
“The equality thing needs to be addressed hugely between male and female co-stars. I know that from friends of mine. But there’s only so much I can do for myself. Agents and lawyers, they do all that stuff.”
“I just kind of deal with what I need to, so I don’t look a producer in the eye and f**king hate them when they are talking about their villas, and you are thinking, s**t, I’m getting the bus at the weekend, because I don’t have the money for a cab, you know?”
