It looks like HBO is having a massive Marvel and Star Wars like multi-franchise ambitions for Game Of Thrones.
Reports suggest that HBO is considering three new Game of Thrones spinoffs set in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire universe. The first is titled 9 Voyages or Sea Snake, the second one is Flea Bottom, and the third is 10,000 Ships.
The spin-off that’s currently leading is about a young Corlys Velaryon AKA The Sea Snake. Like the Targaryens, his ancestry dates back to old Valyria. Velaryon sailed nine voyages upon his famed ship, The Sea Snake to Essos and became extremely wealthy. This series that will feature his journeys to the corners of the known world would treat the viewers with new and wondrous locations, which are magical and mystical and give us a glimpse of people and creatures that we haven’t yet seen in Game Of Thrones.
According to George R.R, Martin’s books, Corlys marries young Princess Rhaenys Targaryen and played an important part in the Dance of Dragons, which was the Targaryen civil war. It also happens to be the subject of the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon that will air in 2022. Steve Toussaint has been cast as the older Lord Corlys Velaryon and this gives the show a good chance of getting an approval.
Flea Bottom as the name suggest will be set in King’s Landing. This is the place from where Arya’ escaped after she fled the Red Keep in season 1 of Game Of Thrones and was also the home of King Robert Baratheon’s son Gendry and Ser Davos Seaworth.
10,000 Ships will be a series about the Rhoynar warrior Princess Nymeria and her followers and their journey to Dorne after being defeated by the Valyrians in Essos.
In addition to these three series it is also being reported that a Game of Thrones prequel series based on Tales of Dunk and Egg is also under consideration. The series follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon V. Targaryen, and is set 90 years before the events of the storyline in Game of Thrones TV series. And that’s not all, as there’s a report of A Game of Thrones animated series that is under consideration for HBO Max.
