Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke isn’t happy by the spoiler culture attacking her new movie Last Christmas. Based on the classic tune of the similar name, Last Christmas has been a target of theorists and bloggers ever since its first trailer debuted earlier this year, with the movie’s plot twist apparently hiding in clear vision.
Talking with IndieWire, the Daenerys Targaryen actress was asked about her feeling on social media interrogation Last Christmas has got. “It’s bloody annoying. Frustrating,” she admitted. “It’s more complicated than people are guessing.” Emilia explained on how co-writer and star Emma Thompson and her spouse Greg Wise at first made up the idea, and spent quite lots of time refining the twist.
“Emma and Greg wrote this script together, but they sent the script to all of their friends and it was only ready when their friends didn’t see the twist coming and couldn’t guess until it happens, so that’s where it comes from. It’s just frustrating.”
Emilia also weighed in on the procedures of spoiler culture, noting: “Our world’s literally on fire, so I think that there’s a lot of things outside of people’s control, so when it comes to this kind of stuff, they can do something with it and want to. It’s done with so much fervour, it’s done with a huge amount of energy and all that is, is misdirected energy.”
