As fan-favorite Marvel character Hawkeye ended up not appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, we’ve been theorizing what he’s been up to and how he will make his return come Avengers 4, which Jeremy Renner himself has teased he’s in.
Hawkeye made his first appearance briefly in Thor (2011), but didn’t make his official debut until the first team-up film The Avengers (2012). Artist Charlie Wen was tapped to work on both films, and has just revealed his original concept art for Renner’s character via Instagram.
Calling it his “Urban Hawkeye,” Wen shared art of Hawkeye wearing a much different suit, complete with a beanie fans seem to have taken a particular liking to.

Urban Hawkeye! I designed this to be different than his superhero version. This would be a costume collaged together from what he already had at home. “Urban Hawkeye! I designed this to be different than his superhero version,” Wen wrote as his caption. “This would be a costume collaged together from what he already had at home. The final design was done by @andyparkart.”
“Dig the beanie with eye holes! That’s a legit idea actually,” one fan commented, while another added, “The beanie tho,” with the heart eyes emoji, followed by, “Looks amazing Charlie! Great work as always.”
Following The Avengers, Renner’s Hawkeye has appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. Since his absence in Infinity War, directors Joe and Anthony Russo actually received death threats over their decision to not include him in the film! Clearly, people love this character.
Here’s to hoping we see way more of Hawkeye when Avengers 4 rolls around next May, and maybe perhaps with a new suit similar to Wen’s? Doubtful, but it would be badass.
