Cersei Lannister was one of the biggest villains on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones and she was ruthless. However, despite all the death and destruction that she caused in the world of Game of Thrones, Cersei Lannister has ranked among television’s best fictional mothers, and to rub salt on the wound, Catelyn Stark has ranked among the worst fictional mothers.
Thortful used a social listening data analysis tool called Search Linkfluence, and used it to compile a list of the fictional mothers who were mentioned the most on social media during the last year. They divided the list into five categories: God, Good, Meh, Oh Dear and Didn’t Make the Cut. With 68,312 social media mentions, Cersei Lannister made sure that she cemented her position in the Good Tier.
thorftul called Cersei as a “rogue addition” to their list as she was “one of the most divisive on-screen moms, yet despite her villainy, she was definitely dedicated to her children — not that it helped any of them too much!”
Though Cersei didn’t top the list, she certainly scored better than Molly Weasley from Harry Potter, who had 58,390 social media mentions. The winner was Mary Poppins, who made it to the top of the list in God tier with 288,769 social media mentions, while Community’s Shirley Bennet came second with 126,855 mentions and with 120,610 mentions, Morticia Addams from The Addams Family came third in the list. The God tier also features Moira Rose, who’s the matriarch of the Schitt family in Schitt’s Creek.
Catelyn Stark featured in the Oh Dear Tier and she was joined by Joyce Byers from Stranger Things, Maria Rambeau from Captain Marvel, and Mia Warren from Little Fires Everywhere.
