Best Twitter reactions to the 'Game of Thrones' Starbucks cup blunder

Game of Thrones is back for its eighth and final series, and while it has recently hit the headlines for Arya Stark’s (Maisie Williams) sex scene and the celebrity cameos, after last night’s episode it has turned into a huge talking point for another reason.

During the festive dinner for Jon Snow and Arya, all the major figures were gathered around the table for a feast of champions – and some Stabucks coffee it appears. Yes, a Starbucks paper cup was on the table right beside Daenerys Targaryen, and it did NOT go overlooked.

Fans of the HBO series took to social media to draw attention to the blunder – just in case you missed it, but the moment has also flashed a huge range of new theories.

1. Blink and you’ll miss it

Fans took to social media to indicate the prop blunder – just in case you missed it.

2. The order

Starbucks were thrilled to get a little cameo in the medieval fantasy series, but rather than blowing their own trumpet they took to Twitter to talk about Daenerys’ beverage of choice.

3. The real champion

Over the eight series Westeros has seen a whole host of wars occur, more recently The Battle of Winterfell.

But fans think the eventual ‘winner’ during the series is THAT coffee cup.

4. Does it make a difference?

Fans of the HBO series spotted the coffee cup but did not let them divert from the drama.

5.  Proof we are only human

Say no more.

6. But something was missing

Yes, you guessed it.  Where was the name?

Coffee cup left in a @GameOfThrones scene. ‘Flat white? What’s your name?’ ‘Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons.’ ‘Oh!’

7. Was it a set up?

Now, this throws a spanner in the works.

8. Was it a plan to slowly break hearts?

We are half way through the final EVER series, so was the Starbucks coffee cup a trick to wean us out of our Sunday routine?

9. Publicity stunt?

But GoT is the most talked about show.

10. The memes are rolling in

Although Game of Thrones executive producer, Bernie Caulfield, has apologised for the blip, they made light of the disaster.

Speaking to WNYC radio, he said: ‘We’re sorry. Westeros was the first place to actually, you know, have Starbucks.’

Now the memes are rolling in…
