Aquaman may have conquered the box office in recent months, but at present, the superhero of the moment is Captain Marvel, and with Brie Larson making her MCU debut, Jason Momoa has taken to social media to support Captain Marvel.
Earlier this week, Larson shared some photos via Instagram from the UK premiere of Captain Marvel, and in the comments of one image, Momoa shared a few kind words: “Congrats love. So stoked for you”
Obviously, the star of the highest-grossing DC film ever made has no time for brand rivalries. Incidentally, Momoa isn’t the only DCEU superhero to show his support for Captain Marvel in the past week. A few days ago, Shazam! star Zachary Levi also shared a video condemning trolls who were posting “inflammatory,” “defamatory,” and “completely fictitious” comments about the movie online.
But in spite of this reaction from certain vocal corners of the internet, the present circumstance bodes well for Captain Marvel, which has already received a bright reception from earlier viewers on social media. Opening weekend projections, in the meantime, are equally promising, ranging from Researcher Exhibitor Relations’ prediction of $118 million domestically, to Box Office Pro’s forecast of $160 million.
