Jason Momoa’s Aquaman has made a huge splash at the box office around the world. The film is making huge waves across the globe and has now turned into the highest grossing DC film of all time in the abroad.
After the critical disappointment of all of the DCEU films excluding Wonder Woman which included the huge disaster of Justice League, very few had anticipated that one of the DC’s superhero, who is often mocked for his unique ability where he can talk to fishes will get a badass incarnation on the big screen in the form of James Wan’s Aquaman starring Jason Momoa.
The film is the second highest grossing superhero film of all time at the China box office, right behind Avengers: Infinity War. And has beaten the lifetime total of DCEU’s most successful film up until then, Wonder Woman.
The magnificence of Aquaman is not only limited to the critical failures of the DC Extended Universe, indeed, it has now done the ridiculous and has beaten the critical as well as commercial blockbusters movies in The Dark Knight Trilogy.
With an international gross of $649 million, Aquaman is now the highest grossing DC film of all time in the abroad beating The Dark Knight Rises which had made a solid $636 million, back in 2012, inflation unadjusted.
As far as its total gross is concerned, with $887 million, Aquaman is now also the highest grossing DCEU film beating $873 million gross of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Aquaman is all set to storm past $900 million mark and is anticipated to even reach $1 billion mark by next week. But, that’ll depend on how well it holds at the box office.
